Romania's final batch for the Women's Handball World Championship

​Selector Florentin Pera announced on Sunday the final team with which Romania will approach the 2023 Women’s Handball World Championship. The competition will be hosted by Denmark, Sweden and Norway, from November 29 to December 17.

After the “tricolors” won the Carpathian Trophy, the selector gave up on the players Elena Șerban (Dunărea Brăila) and Ana Maria Tănasie (CS Minaur Baia Mare).

The big goal of our girls in the final world tournament is ranking in the top 7 places: they will receive the right to participate in pre-Olympic tournaments, and qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics is the big dream of our camp.

  • In the World Handball Championship, Romania is part of group E, along with Denmark, Serbia and Chile.

The first three places will qualify for the Main Group of the competition.

To learn:

  • Romania is the only country in the world to participate in all editions of the World Championship, and in 2023 it will be for the 26th time.
  • The World Championship will take place for the first time in three countries, Denmark, Sweden and Norway, between November 29 and December 17, with 32 national teams at the start.
  • Europe has 16 places allocated for the WC, and six of them are directly occupied by the teams of the host nations. Montenegro, France and the Netherlands have been added to them, following the EC 2022 rankings.
